Life at Njoguini Primary, sister school to Stephen Girard.

S2060105

Njoguini Primary School is a sister school to Stephen Girard Elementary School in Philadelphia. It neighbours the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Life hardships are the order of the day in the locality surrounding the school. The pupils struggle hard to be in school despite all the difficulties they encounter in their day to day life. The school does not provide the pupils with lunch despite most of them coming from very poor backgrounds where food is almost unaffordable. This forces them to carry whatever is available at home for lunch.

Stephen Girard Elementary School became a sister school with Njoguini in 2012 and there have been some very positive changes to the school since.  The students have also had cultural exchanges with the students in Philadelphia and this relationship continues to grow.  See the pictures below for some of the older buildings, newer buildings and cultural exchanges.  Please also visit the Njoguini News Page and the Stephen Girard News Page to see videos and other stories about the great work happening at both of these remarkable schools.
