Moses began working at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in 2014 as the Educational Liaison Officer. During this time, Moses facilitated communication between PA-MOJA, the conservancy, neighbouring schools, and the community. He corresponded with teachers and administrators, organised scholarship selection, provided education outreach, and coordinated visits to the OPC and neighbouring schools for educators.
Since then, Moses has received a number of promotions and is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for OPC and is in charge of the community development department. He is a bridge between the Conservancy and local communities providing educational opportunities, resources, and infrastructure for villages surrounding OPC. Ol Pejeta is committed to wildlife conservation, but needs the support from the neighbouring communities to be successful. Through education, communities surrounding the Conservancy have grown to respect the OPC and the wildlife.
Moses works hard at community outreach, because it is essential for the success of wildlife conservation. “If people do not understand and value conservation, then conservation won’t happen”, Moses said. Through educational outreach, Moses helps the community to be more invested and to view the animals in a more positive light. PA-MOJA is still part of Moses’s portfolio and the OPC/PA-MOJA Scholarship program ensures that the most worthy and needy students receive support to get them through school.
