PA-MOJA volunteers, Sheridan Tochkin, Brittney Wallace, Heather Hall and Alison Stuart visited Malek Secondary School to see the new drip irrigation system funded by PA-MOJA.
The irrigation system allows the school to have a vegetable garden, which supplies the students with hands on experiences in horticulture as well as a source of healthy food for their lunches. Kale and cabbage grow in abundance.
The school held a contest to see which group could grow the best napier grass, a specialized grass used to feed cows. PA-MOJA volunteers had a wonderful time talking to the students about their dreams of becoming doctors, engineers, and journalists.
The soft spoken principal stated: “My one wish would be a dormitory for the girls to guarantee their safe arrival to and from school.”
