A group of Vancouver PA-MOJA supporters spent a Saturday afternoon rolling dough and folding pasta rounds to make traditional perogies for an upcoming fundraiser. Toni Hourston, who is heading to Kenya in July for her fourth trip, organized the event. On June 8, she will sell plates of fried perogies out of her home as well as bags of frozen perogies that donors can purchase to take away with them. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the PA-MOJA emergency fund.
After spending 5 hours making 650 perogies, the volunteers were treated to a plate of the fried delicacies which are traditionally eaten with onions and sour cream.
Toni volunteers at the Nanyuki Children’s Home every summer. You can read more about her experiences on her blog: Children’sHomeCharity.com
