The students at Matanya Primary School have a strong determination to learn despite having to work under difficult learning conditions. The classrooms are not very conducive to learning since they have numerous gaps in the walls and an earth floor which during the rainy season becomes very muddy and sticky for the students and teachers. The gaps in the walls allow too much cold into the classrooms making it hard for the students to concentrate. This situation, however, has not dampened the students’ spirit to learn.
Here are the pupils at the field grounds enjoying some of their co-curricular activities. The boys have a passion for football despite a lack of proper footballs for playing. They have used their ingenuity to make themselves a ball using polythene materials; it works for them quite well. Others cannot afford school shoes, let alone sports shoes; therefore, they play barefooted.

PA-MOJA and Afretech Aid Society in conjunction with the Ol Pejeta Conservancy have extended a hand to Matanya school. They have built a school library which the students are using to improve their performance.
