In the summer of 2013, kids at a children’s home in Kenya asked our volunteers how they could help PA-MOJA. Pretty soon, hundreds of kids were making braided strings that would be used to hold tags on wooden spoons brought home from Kenya to sell at fundraising auctions.
PA-MOJA holds fundraising auctions every year showcasing Kenyan products. By buying Kenyan products, PA-MOJA supports the community twice: by paying local artisans for their work and then selling the goods and returning the money to the local community by building classrooms, libraries, and biogas stations.
