Helen Kariuku was a young Kikuyu student who had a dream to go to university to become a special needs teacher. Her mother had died of cancer and her father wanted her stay home to look after the farm.
Helen’s dream captured the hearts of teachers at Langley Fine Arts School. Together, they pooled enough money to put Helen through university. She successfully completed three and a half years. Tragically, on the way to Kenyatta university to complete her final semester, Helen and her young cousin died in a car accident.
Helen’s hard work and determination was an inspiration to all of us.
