Anthony Gathogo
Age: 14
Form 3 (Grade 11) – January, 2019
School: St. Augustine Secondary – Boarder
PA-MOJA Scholarship started: 2017 – Form 1 (Grade 9)

Sponsoring School: Madison East High School, Madison, Wisconsin, USA.

Anthony lives with his parents in a small village called Karandi. They do not own their own land so his parents make just enough to feed the family by working as labourers on local farms.  Anthony is the youngest in the family.  One older brother is a mechanic, another is a boda boda driver (motorcycle used as a taxi) and his sister owns a tiny business.

Anthony hopes to be the first person in his family to earn the grades to take him to university. His favourite subjects are Business and Physics.  Anthony wants to go to university to learn to be a businessman. He hopes to own and operate a supermarket so that his family and the people in his village can have a place to do their shopping.

In his spare time Anthony likes to play soccer, volleyball, and read novels.

Antony has a message for his PA-MOJA donors:  “I come from a very humble background. My parents don’t own their own plot of land which is rare in Kenya.  It hurts me to see my parents working so hard to provide for me.  Without this scholarship, I would face the same life as my parents, working on other people’s farms for very little money.  I feel blessed and thankful to PA-MOJA for giving me this opportunity to better myself and help my family.  Please know how grateful I am.  Asante Sana.”
