Linah lives with her mother Esther Imaret and 5 siblings in Depatas community. She is the 2nd born in her family. Her mother is a casual laborer and is the sole breadwinner of her family as her husband is deceased. “Linah will be my first daughter to go to high school and I have very high expectations of her,” says Lina’s mother.
Oozing with confidence, Linah says she would like to become a civil engineer. She hopes to attain her dreams and build a better life for herself and that of her family. While going to school is seen as a privilege, Linah also knows she is carrying a lot of expectations on behalf of her family, community, and siblings. Linah has seen many girls in her community drop out of school either due to lack of fees or early marriage or simply frustration. Girls in her community do not always get the best opportunities and she appreciates her family has always encouraged her to work hard and go to a good Secondary school. PA-MOJA and Ol Pejeta have given me a wonderful opportunity and I will do my best to repay with my best performance.
