David Njagi Wanjiru

Name: David Njagi Wanjiru

School: Nyira High School

Community: Ngobit

My name is David Njagi, born in 2008, and I live in the Ngobit Community with my family. We are a family of four, and I am the most cheerful child in our household. I attended Mother Teresa Primary School in Ngobit, where I sat for my KCPE exams in Class Eight, scoring 376 marks. Through the support of the Pamoja Scholarship, I joined Nyeri High School, where I currently study.

My favorite subjects are Maths, Chemistry, and Business Studies. I excel in Maths, usually achieving a grade higher than (B+). It relates closely to my daily life, which is why I enjoy it. Chemistry fascinates me because its knowledge has led to the production of essential items like drugs, reducing suffering and deaths. I also appreciate Business Studies since it aligns with my career aspirations.

I enjoy playing football during leisure time, both at home and school, and my favorite team is Manchester City. Watching football matches greatly interests me, and I usually play as number 11. My interest in the game sparked when I watched an entire match at home at a young age.

Listening to music and dancing are also hobbies of mine. I particularly enjoy Afrobeat and Drill music. Additionally, I actively participate in debates at school and clubs, such as the Aviation Club.

Upon completion of high school and achieving a KCSE grade of higher than a B+, I aspire to attend a university in or outside Kenya to study Politics and Economics. I chose this career path after observing the weaknesses in our country’s economy, pervasive corruption, and issues like poor infrastructure, such as inadequate roads and lack of electricity in our community.

Once employed, I intend to contribute to building our community by establishing good schools and sponsoring deserving students to advance their education. This support will enable them to pursue their desired careers.

I also plan to provide essential facilities such as hospitals, dispensaries, and construct dams during rainy seasons to collect water for agricultural purposes. This initiative aims to help local farmers improve their agricultural practices by offering them markets for their produce.

Additionally, I aim to create employment opportunities for the youth to deter them from drug abuse due to stress and unemployment. Moreover, I will facilitate educational programs for local farmers to enhance their farming techniques. Thank you.
