Name: Karen Lamuria
School: Kangeta Girls’ Secondary
My name is Karen Lamuria. I was born in 2008 in Nanyuki and currently live there. I was also born into a family of four and am the second eldest child. I received the PA-MOJA scholarship in 2012 when I was younger. That scholarship has been of great help to me. It has been paying my school fees since 2012, when I was in nursery school at a private school. This scholarship helped me develop better learning skills, which have molded my academic performance up to this point. Similarly, in high school, PA-MOJA has continued to pay my school fees and hopes to continue doing so until university level.
I attend Bishop Njiru Girls’ High School. My best subjects are physics and mathematics. However, my favorite hobbies are dancing and listening to music. My dream career is in hospitality, specifically serving at a place like the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This is my way of giving back to the community. As PA-MOJA plays its role in supporting me, I will also play my part by achieving high scores in school. My best games in school are handball and badminton. To avoid relying on just one career path, my other dream is to become a teacher. The reason for this is that I want to share my knowledge with others to help them thrive.
I also enjoy reading storybooks about animals, particularly those related to wildlife conservation rather than domesticated animals. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy has always inspired me to study hard and gain more knowledge about animals. I appreciate all the places we have visited where animals are kept, especially the Rift Valley adventure. There, we could see all kinds of animals well-conserved and cared for when injured. My dream university is Kenyatta University (KU) for two reasons: to study Hospitality and Management and also Teaching. This will help me become an independent woman in life.
On the other hand, I receive support from my teachers at school. They dedicate a significant amount of time to advising us and teaching us how to cope with life situations. My guardians also advise me to study diligently and smartly to pursue my dreams and goals in life. Thank you, PA-MOJA, for your support.
