Name: Mary Wairimu Kariuki
School: Sister Irene High School
My name is Mary Wairinu, and I was born in 2007. I was born in Naivasha County but currently live in Nanyuki. I come from a Kikuyu and Christian family, of which I’m proud. I have five siblings, and I’m the youngest. Spending time with them makes me feel like I belong. My favorite game is basketball because it energizes me when I’m bored or need to clear my mind. I’m also a fan of watching movies and listening to music as they relax me and allow for some fantasy.
After school, I really love reading novels, especially after my exams. They not only help expand my vocabulary but also calm me down when I’m anxious or nervous. My favorite novel is “The Kill Order,” an adventure story.
As I grow up, I aspire to become a teacher, a career I’ve admired since childhood. I’d love to teach physics or languages because I have a strong affinity for physics and excel in languages.
In high school, my favorite subject is History. I find it fascinating to learn about the history of different countries and people worldwide. My role models in life are Wangari Maathai and Barack Obama. I admire Maathai for her courage in fighting against deforestation despite societal norms, and Obama’s story inspires me to believe I can overcome any challenge.
I’m skilled in drawing and art, which I practice in school every Monday during club activities. I joined this club to become a proficient artist like my brother, whom I admire when he creates portraits. I strive to improve my skills and achieve perfection.
I’ve been sponsored by PA-MOJA since 2009, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my life. They’ve supported me since childhood, providing quality education through good primary schools and high school. I’m grateful for everything PA-MOJA has done for me, and I vow each day to work hard and give back to the PA-MOJA community.
PA-MOJA has been a dedicated team supporting its students for a long time, and I believe it will continue to grow and expand. My goal in life is to become a strong, independent woman and help others along the way.
