Community: Mwakinya
My name is Morris Mathenge Nguru, and I was born in the year 2007. I am the second born in my family, and I find joy in spending time with them because no one loves me quite like my family does. I have three siblings and both parents, and I take pride in being part of my family. Our home is in Laikipia county within the Mwakinga community. I deeply appreciate my community because the elders provide guidance to the younger ones, help resolve conflicts, and instill good moral values. Moreover, it encourages young people to strive for excellence in their education.
Currently, I am a student at Thome Boys Secondary School. I value the school not only for its academic teachings but also for imparting essential life skills.
My favorite subject is Mathematics. I find solving math problems enjoyable as it hones my problem-solving abilities. I particularly appreciate this subject as it boosts my overall grades. Football is my talent; I admire Marcus Rashford’s style of play, and that’s why I support Manchester United. Consequently, I love watching Premier League games to learn new football techniques. I try to practice these skills while listening to music, especially drill music.
My career aspiration is to become a lecturer, primarily to assist slow learners in Mathematics. I empathize with those who struggle to comprehend the subject and want to offer support. Additionally, I’m drawn to teaching and hope to provide scholarships to students in need within my community and beyond. I also aim to enhance my knowledge of computers to assist community members in situations like cyber attacks or threats.
During my leisure time, I enjoy riding bikes. I dislike wasting my free time, and my favorite bike to ride is my father’s bike, ‘Captain.’ Despite my father’s warnings about the dangers of riding, I do not fear them. In fact, within my community, I’m known as one of the best riders, a source of pride for me.
I am immensely grateful to the Pamoja organization and Ol Pejeta Conservancy for granting me this opportunity. Many others deserved this chance, but they didn’t receive it. I’m thankful for guiding me towards the next level and placing me in Thome Boys Secondary School. Thank you.
