Name: Lilian Gatwiri
School: St. Christopher’s School
She has this surprisingly deep voice and confident voice for such a young girl and it marks her out from a crowd. She smiles with confidence and a hint of mischief always ready to make friends.
She was born around 2002, (not known for sure). Not much is really known about Lilian Gatwiri prior to PA-MOJA meeting her. She was taken to Nanyuki Children’s home when she was 2 years old by a good Samaritan. From the little information gathered, she used to live with her blind old grandmother. She was often seen roaming around the village and the good neighbour thought it was wise to take her to a children’s home where she could get basic needs and attend school.
Since that time, Lilian has not met any of her family. The home has tried all it could to trace the family, but all efforts have proven to be futile. She, however, wishes one day she will get a chance to meet at least one member of her family.
“She is one of the most creative children we have ever come across in this home, she is very artistic and also loves poetry work. She spends most of her free time drawing. And lest I forget, she is an excellent storyteller. She keeps other children in the home busy with stories,” the home’s manager says.
Lilian’s favourite subjects are English, Social Studies and English. She hopes to be an artist or choreographer in future. This has inspired her to join a dancing club in school.
With a grin on her face “, I wish to thank my sponsors for their kind hearts and willingness to support me through my education. I promise to continue working hard on my academics and talents.”
