I am Sylvia Apua. I joined PA-MOJA in 2022 as an intern in the OPC Community Development department.
Since then, I have been working with the scholarships coordinator to identify eligible candidates, collect and review scholarship applications and facilitate the selection process for PA-MOJA scholarship recipients.
I enjoy working with the students, especially on interactive occasions where we discuss academic performance and engage in mentorship sessions. In 2023, I got hired by OPC as a scholarship program assistant. With a passion for fostering academic achievement and dedication to supporting students in their pursuit for higher education, I play a role in the support of the program with my responsibilities ranging from preparing school fees to ensure students are in school throughout the term, working with the program Coordinator to conduct home visits and monitoring the students’ welfare.
In addition to my duties, I also connect with the students and help them in identifying their academic strengths and addressing their areas of weaknesses to ensure good performance.
I believe that the future of our communities depend on the kind of young people we are raising now. An educated and innovative generation is the beacon of community transformation. Thanks to PA-MOJA for giving the opportunities to the bright and needy students who are the changes we are expecting in the future. I am very proud to be a part of PA-MOJA.
