For the first time, PA-MOJA and OPC are piloting a new strategy to support students who live around the conservancy. Typically all our scholarship students are from the community, but attend boarding schools. This year, we decided to also support students who attend local day schools. While the tuition, which ranges from 9,000-15,000 KES (approximately $90-$150 CAD) is much less than boarding schools, it can still be prohibitively expensive for people living in this area. Also by paying the school fees for these local students, their parents have more disposable income to spend in the community and, as with all scholarships, there is tangible support for the community from the conservancy. This in turn helps the community see the value of the conservancy and allows for ongoing support for wildlife conservation.
Some student photos are missing but will be added as soon as they are available.
