[two_third]Age: 16
Form: 4 (Grade 12) January, 2019
School: Nanyuki Boys’ High School – Boarder
PA-MOJA Scholarship started:  Form 1 (Grade 9)

Sponsored by: Private Donor

Hezron is the first born in a family of three. He has a brother in grade 7 and a sister in pre-school. His family lives in a small farm at Mirera in Laikipia Central. His parents make a living by doing casual work. He says whatever they earn is too little to cover the family’s basic needs. During dry seasons, especially, life is hard for the family because the crops can’t grow and there is little to eat or sell. His mother is often sick; thus, a lot the family income is spent on medical bills and drugs.

Hezron performed extremely well in his Kenya Certificate Primary Education (K.C.P.E). His marks were high enough to be invited to one of only 114 prestigious National Schools in Kenya. Unfortunately his father didn’t have enough money to take him to secondary school so he was told  to join his father in doing casual work for local farmers. Mirera community representatives came to learn of this and asked PA-MOJA to support Hezron with a scholarship.

Hezron’s favourite subjects are Biology and Chemistry and he would like to be a doctor in the future. His favourite teacher is Chemistry teacher Mr. Osidha because is very understanding and teaches well.

In his spare time, Hezron likes to play soccer and read novels. He assists his parents with house chores during school holidays. He volunteers for his community by holding mentorship forums with the primary school boys in his area to encourage them to work hard in school.

The most important people in his life are his parents and grandparents because they have been a source of encouragement.

Hezron has a message for his PA-MOJA donors: “I would like to thank PA-MOJA and all the donors for this scholarship. Without this support, I could not have gone to a National school like Nanyuki.  I would be at home tilling fields and doing casual labour for the rest of my life. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for changing my life.”[/two_third]
