Hello, my name is Ian Muriithi Wachira, and I come from a beautiful, peaceful village called Chuma in Laikipia. I am the youngest in a family of eight and was raised by a single mother.
I attended a local primary school named Wathituga Primary School until Class Eight, where I achieved a score of three hundred and seventy marks in my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). Initially, I thought I would attend a local secondary school, but thanks to the scholarship from PA-MOJA, I was able to join Kagumo High School, where I currently study.
The most important person in my life is my mom, who raised me alone since there’s a seven-year gap between me and my second-to-last sibling. She was everything I had during most of my childhood, and I’m immensely grateful to God for her. She means the world to me.
My favorite subjects are History, Kiswahili, and Business Studies. I’m passionate about History because I enjoy reading stories about the past; they fascinate me. Kiswahili, being our national language, is important to me, and I’m eager to improve my speaking and writing skills to make communication with other Kenyans easier. Business Studies provides valuable tips on money-making and management, which prove useful, especially in high school where the temptation to spend recklessly is ever-present.
After completing secondary school, my aspiration is to become a Mechanical Engineer because I’ve always been intrigued by machines, especially cars. Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by them. I recall my friends and I making toy cars from cooking oil cans. However, my approach was different; I would place a wheel at the front center of the can, making my toy cars three-wheeled. I also attached small motors I had collected to the back wheels, making them motorized. This childhood experience sparked my passion for inventing and fixing machines, and it continues to drive my ambition to become a mechanical engineer.
Chapati and fried beans are my favorite meal. I’ve loved this food since the first time I tasted it; its incredible taste has made it my top choice among all the delicious foods I enjoy.
During my free time, if I’m not assisting my mom, I enjoy watching documentaries about machines or even animated shows to pass the time.
